Vital information about rescue and evacuation situations in elevators
The elevator is a safe means of transportation that contributes to a higher standard of living for many people every day. However, sometimes situations arise where someone needs help. In such cases, it is vital to know that a rescue and evacuation situation should only be handled by authorized personnel who have undergone education and practical training.
When someone needs help in an elevator:
- Contact the responsible elevator service company. Contact information is available in the stairwell and next to the elevator.
- Stay in touch with the person in distress, tell them that help is on the way. Help calm the situation.
- Do not begin evacuation from the elevator before authorized personnel are on site.
- If someone has been seriously injured, trapped, suffering from other medical conditions, or in the event of a fire in the property, call 112 and wait for help.
In the info sheet you will find examples of serious safety risks when evacuating from an elevator.
