Revised handbook – owning an elevator
The Swedish Elevator Association is releasing a new edition of its handbook – owning an elevator, which was previously called the Handbook on Elevators for Property Owners. The handbook has been produced by the Swedish Elevator Association with the Property Owners and the Swedish Public Service as reference groups.
Elevators are an important part of a building because they allow people and materials to be transported quickly and smoothly up and down the property. For many people, especially the elderly and people with disabilities, it is crucial that there is an elevator to be able to get in and out of the property.
The elevator also makes everyday life easier for other groups, such as families with children and strollers. There are around 130,000 elevators in operation in Sweden today.
When the elevator is working, few people think much about it. But when it is not working, accessibility in the property is affected, which can mean great inconvenience for those who depend on it. The manual provides support for property owners and managers who come into contact with elevators in their work. The goal is to give them a practical basis for taking the right measures, so that the elevator works well and is safe to use.
