At the same time as the population is getting older, many people live in properties where there is no elevator or where existing elevators do not meet today&#039;s accessibility and safety requirements. For thousands of elderly people and people with reduced mobility, this means that their own home risks becoming an obstacle instead of a safe place to live. Sweden needs new support for modern and accessible elevators highlights the need for new government support for the modernization and retrofitting of elevators in apartment buildings - an investment that can make a big difference for both individuals and society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 2015, lack of accessibility has been considered a form of discrimination in Swedish law.
