Many can receive support from home care services, but when this is no longer enough, an unnecessarily early move to special housing is the alternative, albeit a costly one. Population growth with an increasing number of elderly people also means that the costs of special housing will increase sharply in the future. Accessible housing means that more elderly people can stay at home longer \u2013 this increases quality of life and independence, and at the same time provides major cost savings when the need for care is kept down.
