Grants for retrofitting or adapting elevators to make them accessible will disappear by the end of 2025.

The government has stated in the budget bill for 2025 that their intention is that the investment support for retrofitting or adapting elevators for accessibility will be phased out gradually. The Elevator Association appeared on Sveriges Radio about how the shutdown of 2G and 3G networks could affect emergency telephones in elevators.

The sharply increased demand for data communication in particular requires newer technologies such as 4G and 5G. Therefore, a technology shift is underway as the 2G and 3G networks are being phased out.
