Reference response: Memorandum Reform of waste legislation for increased material recycling and for a more circular economy (Ref. No.: KN2024/02249)

A large part of the activities of the members of the Elevator Association consist of various types of service activities where elevators and escalators are maintained and renovated. The work often generates small amounts of hazardous waste such as oil spills, electrical equipment and light sources.

A service technician typically visits several different customers in one day, with accompanying internal transport. This means that the administrative burden of complying with existing regulations, such as reporting and documentation, becomes disproportionately large.

The Swedish Elevator Association is positive about a reform of waste legislation for increased material recycling and for a more circular economy, but believes that greater consideration must be given to service operations whose conditions entail a disproportionately large administrative burden.
