Debate article: The Swedish National Board of Housing, Building and Planning's proposed building regulations are discriminatory
The Swedish Elevator Association with Secretary General Sara Berggren has co-signed a debate article together with Åsa Strahlemon, Chairman of the DHR – Participation, Power of Action, Freedom of Movement, Oscar Sjökvist, chairman of the Swedish Association of Young People with Disabilities, Titus Fridell, chairman of Saco student council, Elsa Berlin, vice chair of the Swedish United Student Union, in Altinget.se about the Swedish National Board of Housing, Building and Planning's new building regulations proposal, which states that only 20 percent of newly built student housing must meet the requirements for accessibility for people with disabilities.
Sweden is already receiving sharp criticism from the UN for not meeting the requirements of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. The Swedish National Board of Housing, Building and Planning's proposal is completely contrary to the right to live, reside and study like others.
