Meet Johanna Nygårdh, KONE, new member of the Swedish Elevator Association's board

Johanna Nygårdh is Regional Director Sweden North at KONE and newly elected to the board of the Swedish Elevator Association. We asked Johanna a few questions about why they are members and what she considers to be the Swedish Elevator Association's most important mission.

KONE is a world leader in the elevator and escalator industry, with a mission to make urban mobility easier. They deliver elevators, escalators and automatic doors, as well as modernization and maintenance solutions that add value throughout the building's life cycle. Together with their partners and customers around the world, they help cities become better places to live.

About the importance of collaboration through an industry organization, Johanna says:

– We at KONE see it as a matter of course to work for positive development in the industry's most important issues through the Swedish Elevator Association.

What do you want to contribute to the association's board?

– I hope that I can contribute insights and support from KONE's local, and if necessary, also global organization to a strong and effective Elevator Association.

What do you consider to be the association's most important mission?

– Safety for both users and colleagues who work with elevators and escalators is for us at KONE and for me personally the most important mission we have to pursue both in the association and out at all of our member companies. As an industry organization, we have an important role to play in helping other actors and society to drive the industry in the right direction in their decisions when it comes to, for example, safety, accessibility and skills supply. The most important thing for me in the elevator association and its work is that we ensure that our voice is heard so that we can, for example, help to avoid terrible accidents happening in the future and that we give everyone the same opportunity to move freely in society.

How do you see the Swedish Transport Association in the future?

– I see that the Swedish Elevator Association has worked well when it comes to the issues that are important not only for us in the industry but also for society at large. Here I clearly see that we will tirelessly continue the good work in the future. Accessibility is for me an issue where we at the Swedish Elevator Association need to highlight the challenge we face as a society. It is about an aging population that we want to ensure can remain in their homes without having to worry about how to get to or from their apartment, how families with children can safely bring their stroller to their apartment and how we as a society ensure that everyone with functional variations, regardless of age, has access to all parts of society, concludes Johanna.
