Recommendation regarding scaffolding in escalators

The members of the Swedish Elevator Association are actively working to increase the safety of the country's elevators and escalators. Since the use of scaffolding in escalators can lead to accidents, the Swedish Elevator Association has developed a recommendation regarding scaffolding in escalators.

It is best if escalator companies refuse requests to use escalators for scaffolding. If this is not possible, it is very important to mark the steps that are affected and demand that the person erecting the scaffolding pay for the replacement of the steps affected. The reason is that the steps, as well as the tracks and their attachment, may have been overloaded by the scaffolding feet, which is a risk of failure later.
